Welcome to the Chicago Bears, Matt Slauson
Matthew Slauson liked protecting Mark Sanchez and opening holes for Shonn Greene. He is going to love working with Jay Cutler and Matt Forte. Slauson has started all 16 games three years in a row, landing a 90 on the Madden Toughness Rankings. Versatile enough to play center and both guard positions while at the Jets, Slauson though, is a shoe-in for left guard starter this year for our Chicago Bears. Unless we draft a guard at 20… But I’m not going into draft scenarios in today’s blog. If you need more info on Chicago’s likely strategies check out BearsFam, ESPN, or CHIBearsReddit. Today we talk about our newest offensive lineman.
Slauson on Teammate Tebow:
There has not been any of off-field instances that would raise warning flags for this signing. The closest thing I could find to “dirt” on Slauson would be during the big “Bench Sanchez for Tebow” during the 2012 campaign. While other Jets were using phrases like “Terrible” an “Unimproved”, Slauson took a more traditional approach -
“It’s not even close… All the other quarterbacks know it. I have all the confidence in Mark. We don’t really have a choice.” ~ Matt Slauson to NY Daily News. Entire Tebow Ripping Article
“Somebody needs to get him under control, because he’s trying to hurt people… It’s one thing to be an incredibly physical player and a tenacious player, but it’s another thing to set out to end that guy’s career.”“The University of Nebraska has always prided itself on producing high-character guys, and he isn’t one of them.” ~ Matt Slauson to NY Post. Entire Exclusive Article
Here is a recent Sun-Times article quoting Slauson as thinking about the block “all the time”
Here is an NJ.com article with Coach Rex defending the block
Matt Slauson honored by Husker’s and Our Time foundation:
Most Bears fans will remember one of our all time favorite special teams players Adrian Peterson. Some of those fans will remember that they loved the way Adrian Peterson handled his stutter problem – tackling it head-on. Well, Matt Slauson has also taken his “problem” to the public, making this problem easier for children to handle. The first video is a Nebraska story on Slauson. The second video is a tear-jerker.
